Ruth Goes to Mexico

There is a small team of women working on reaching women in situations of prostitution that are unfortunately high in number here. Prostitution is legal in Mexico, but the legality of it has not lessened the horror some of these women live daily. We are specifically working with a group of women that stand outside of motels, since we can reach them more easily than the girls who work in bars, dating houses, and at public restrooms. They stand on the sidewalk, so we walk around, hand out candy, and invite them to eat with us at our drop-in center. Our goal is to offer physical, emotional, and spiritual help. Every week we see a new group of girls, since most of them get moved around a lot. We are growing and expanding, and we are now renting a small building. We opened our doors in March 2019. We offer meals, activities, medical help, counseling, and mainly just connection with the women who come in. We are so excited to show them friendship, reliability, and the love of God. 

In January 2022 we launched a branch under our main ministry: Amanecer Jewelry. It is a small business that provides steady income for women who have few job options. We also provide a program that they go through for six months. The program includes class on self-esteem, finances, nutrition, job stability, etc. Our first graduating class finished in August 2022.

Our financial needs are: 
-$500 dollars per month to cover rent, materials, food, etc. 

- One-time donors who would like to sponsor new women through the Amanecer program. The cost is $600 per woman.
