Hello all!
I cannot believe that I have just started my 9th year in Oaxaca. Time flies.
Last year was one of the hardest years in my time serving in missions- obstacles, crises, bad days.... It honestly wore me out.
We ended our school year with a record-breaking heat wave. But the students were diligent and kind through it all, and the graduates ended the school year strong.
Girasol faced some of the biggest growing pains, but God has been so good in guiding and protecting us as we face the unknown and the terrifying.
Amanecer Jewelry has grown quickly as well, allowing us to have 2 graduating classes this year (one in February and the 2nd in November!).
I made a recap video to show at my church this summer, and though I felt that this year was very hard, each picture I chose kept reminding me of the laughter, the community, the joy, and the help I had all year. Making this video was a clear reminder that yes I am tired, but it's because my life has been so full of sharing Christ's love!
It brought me much joy to share it with my home church in Prescott. I also spent a week recovering and resting with my dear friends and family this summer, so I am now refreshed, my mind is renewed, and I am ready for this 9th year! Pray for the hard days and the tiring days, because it is on those days that we have the most opportunity to shine a light in the darkness. Pray for a continued strength and joy in the ministry. Pray for community to come around and support us in our work.
I am happy and blessed, knowing I am right where God wants me to be. I am grateful for all of you who surround me with prayer and encouragement. I am overjoyed to rededicate myself this year to the things that are near and dear to my heart.
Here we go!
Gracias,
-Ruth
